Lead or Host a Life Group

The vision of Groups is the same as the vision of our church: each Group at Elim exists to be a life-giving community taking steps on the journey to be more like Jesus. It’s in him that we find real life!

While Sundays allow us to gather as a big community to celebrate all that God is doing, Life Groups are the place where people really find the life-giving community they’re looking for. The bigger we get, the smaller we need to feel.

Groups are the place where you can truly embrace community: where people know your name, you have fun, you feel safe being honest and vulnerable, you receive and give to others the life Jesus offers – his salvation, forgiveness, healing, freedom, hope, and love – and you experience real growth as his follower. Being part of a Group is life-giving.

Jesus had his twelve that he journeyed with. They knew him, learned from him, watched him, and tried to imitate him. Jesus made them into a community taking steps each day to be more like him, and in just this way they discovered true, eternal life. We need our twelve too.

Life Groups are the place at Elim where we connect, care, and cultivate growth in each other as we take steps on the journey to be more like Jesus.

If you are interested in leading or hosting a Life Group, please let us know by filling out the application below. You don't have to answer every question; you don't need to know exactly what you want your Group to look like. 

After submitting your application, you will be contacted by Pastor Trina to get to you know, assess your readiness to lead or host a Group, and develop your ideas through conversation and prayer.

Tell us about your journey with Jesus. When did you come to faith in God? What have been a few key moments in your journey? What steps have you taken toward being more like Jesus? How long have you been part of Elim Church? What brings you to this point of interest in leading or hosting a Group?

Please provide the name and contact info of a Christian who can confirm what you've shared about your journey and share about your readiness to lead or host a group. (If you are part of a group, this would ideally be your current Group Leader.)

How sure are you about leading or hosting a Life Group?

Are you interested in leading a Group, that is, in leading others to be more like Jesus through connection, care, and cultivating growth in others? Are you interested in hosting a Group, that is, opening your home to others, and providing some food and drinks? Or both?

Have you ever led and/or hosted a Group before?

As you think about leading or hosting a Group, what do you imagine it would be like? What kind of community do you want to create here at Elim? Would it track along with our sermon series? Would it be focused on a particular demographic (e.g., men, women, young families, seniors, speakers of another language)? Or are you simply open to whoever God brings along your path?

Elim exists to be a life-giving community taking steps on the journey to be more like Jesus. If you come aboard as a leader or host of a Life Group, you won't be on your own! We will be providing formal training to prepare and equip you. We also want you to stay healthy. You will be connected with a Hub Leader who will connect with, care for, and cultivate growth in you, like you are doing for others! How does that sound?
